What Are Louisiana's Length Restrictions?

Overall length restrictions in Louisiana are similar to rules in other southern states. On designated routes, the maximum length is 59 feet 6 inches. Notice that the trailer-length limit, at 50 feet, is slightly shorter than the normal 53 feet. Twin trailers are limited to 30 feet in length.  The state permits overhang of four feet in the front and eight feet in the rear.

No transportation of oversize equipment is permitted on major holidays. Oversize loads must avoid bridges near New Orleans during morning and evening rush hours.
